Financial Resolutions for 2009
by April Qualls
You probably started off 2009 with a bang and made a list of New Year’s resolutions. Why not add a few financial goals to your list? Here are some ideas to get you started:
1. Make a financial plan; list short-term, mid-term, and long-term goals for yourself or your family.
2. Create a personal budget with realistic expectations, and stick to it.
3. Start an IRA or a Roth IRA, and contribute as much as you can -- even a small amount is significant.
4. Cut unnecessary expenses so you won't need to take out as many student loans this year.
5. Stop using your credit cards this year.
Good luck with your 2009 financial resolutions! May this be the year you succeed financially.
